CHICAGO ILLINOIS -- As expected, the Cubs tendered contracts to Jeff Baker, Mike Fontenot, Koyie Hill, Ryan Theriot and pitchers Tom Gorzelanny, Angel Guzman, Carlos Marmol and Sean Marshall on Saturday.

The lone exception was Neal Cotts, who also is arbitration-eligible. The Cubs do hope to re-sign Cotts to a Minor League contract. The left-hander began the 2009 season on the Opening Day roster, but was optioned to Triple-A Iowa after pitching in 19 games. He underwent Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his left elbow on July 2.

Teams had until 10:59 p.m. CT on Saturday to make a decision on the players.
