Huskie Elite Baseball Prospect Camp Set For January 18 - NORTHERN ILLINOIS OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE:
DeKALB, Illinois - The Northern Illinois baseball program's Elite Baseball Prospect Camp is set for Monday, January 18, 2010, as players in eighth grade and above are encouraged to attend and receive instruction from the NIU coaching staff and players, other NCAA coaches and former Huskies who are now playing professionally.
This year's camp will feature instruction within the game format, camp services and a camp T-shirt. All baseball activities will be held at the DeKalb Recreation Center at 1765 South Fourth Street, and parents are invited to observe the camp.
The camp will have two sessions, one for pitchers and catchers from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a 9:30 a.m. check-in time and one for position players from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. with an 11:30 a.m. check-in time. The pitcher/catcher session will give pitchers an opportunity to receive a written evaluation of their skills, along with personalized attention during mechanic drills and bullpen sessions. Catchers will receive a written skill evaluation, along with personalized attention during blocking, recovery, throwing and hitting drills. The position player session will focus on hitting, throwing and position specific defensive skills. Players will receive a written skill evaluation based on all drill sessions, along with a pro-style workout. The cost of the pitching/catching session is $75, the position player session is $100 and the package of both sessions is $150.
Campers should bring their own glove, bat, cleats, tennis or turf shoes and appropriate practice attire.
