Dekalb County Liners to sell Beer!

Sycamore approves new type of liquor license

SYCAMORE – The Sycamore City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Monday to establish a Class J liquor license for use at outdoor baseball parks.

The new license is related to a proposed Prospect Collegiate Baseball League franchise, The DeKalb County Liners, which may locate to Sycamore this summer. Home games would be played on the main baseball field at the Sycamore Park sports complex near Airport Road.

City Manager Bill Nicklas said franchise owner Kim Wise approached the city about establishing a liquor license so alcoholic beverages could be sold during the games.

The Class J liquor license would allow beer and wine to only be sold during a game, alcohol only be sold at certain concession areas near the ballpark, and outside liquor would not be allowed into the ballpark. The initial fee for a Class J liquor license is $5,000, with a $1,500 annual fee.
