Chris Rutta Named Horizon League Player of the Week

UIC senior Chris Rutta has been named Horizon League Baseball Player of the Week for the period of March 8-14. Rutta registers his second career weekly honor from the League office.


Rutta picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 7-for-13 (.538) with one run, three doubles and four RBI in three games last week. He also registered a .769 slugging percentage and .538 on-base percentage for the Flames.

The outfielder, a native of Rothschild, Wis., recorded a 3-for-5 performance with two doubles in Friday's 9-7 setback to Big 12 Conference power Baylor.
