The Boston Red Sox purchased the contract of centerfielder Matty Johnson from the Gateway Grizzlies.Johnson hit .313 with 57 hits, 6 doubles and three triples in his rookie season with the Grizzlies.
Matty Johnson is the second player in two years to have their contract purchased by a Major League Baseball Club. Joe Agreste was picked up by the San Diego Padres last season.
