Pitching Coach Brooks Carey has been reunited with Head Coach Hal Lanier
as both were on the coaching staff for the Sussex Skyhawks of the Cam-Am Independent League in 2008.
"I am looking forward to the new challenge ahead and being a part of the Normal Cornbelters inaugural season. It's an honor top be a part of the coaching staff with Hal Lanier." said Carey. Carey started his baseball career on an athletic scholarship as a pitcher for Florida State University in 1975. Coming off of his college baseball career, Carey found himself in the Major League Baseball Draft as the 10th round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 1978. While working his way through the Orioles system, Carey proved to be an asset to the organization in 1980, when he helped to lead the Charlotte Orioles in Charlotte, North Carolina to win the Southern League Championship.
