CHICAGO -- The Cubs have invited 19 non-roster players to Spring Training, including top prospect Starlin Castro and the last three first-round picks -- Josh Vitters, Andrew Cashner and Brett Jackson.
Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 17 to Mesa, Ariz., and the position players report on Feb. 22. The first full-squad workout will be Feb. 23.
The pitchers include lefties J.R. Mathes and James Russell, and right-handers Cashner, Casey Coleman, Thomas Diamond, Jeff Kennard and Vince Perkins. The list of catchers invited includes Robinson Chirinos, Steve Clevenger, Blake Lalli and Chris Robinson.
Besides Castro, Vitters and Barney, the infielders invited include Matt Camp, Bryan LaHair and Bobby Scales. Jackson and Brad Snyder are among the outfielders added to the spring roster.
