The Rockford RiverHawks have picked up a speedster, center fielder and possible leadoff hitter.
Ron Perodin, a former Minnesota farmhand who has four 20-steal seasons in seven years of professional baseball. He has played for the Sussex Skyhawks of the independent Can-Am League each of the last three seasons.
The left-handed hitter was limited to 44 games last season because of a knee injury, but still stole 11 bases. He hit .219 with two home runs and 13 RBI. The previous year, Perodin hit .302 no home runs and 43 RBI. He stole 26 bases.
