St. Rita High School in Chicago has been ranked #13 in the nation by Baseball America in their 2010 pre-season poll.
Last year St. Rita finished second in the 4A IHSA State Tournament losing to Winnetka (New Trier) 4-3 in the championship game.
The Mustangs have four D-I recruits including outfielder and Arizona State signee Mark Payton (.438-11-40). Other recruits include middle infielder Kyle Stearns (Holy Cross; .337-0-13), outfielder Anthony Andres (Northern Illinois; .463-3-21) and righthander John Starcevich (Chicago; 2-1, 2.10). Junior first baseman/lefthander Joey Filomeno (.313-3-27; 1-2, 5.33) is verbally committed to Louisville.
Winnetka (New Trier) is also ranked #28 in the nation in the same Baseball America pre-season poll.
