PlayBall USA Baseball adds Six For 2010

The PlayBall Patriots added six more players to their roster for the 2010 season.
Tyler Willis - LHP - Augustana College, Lockport Community High School, lives in Homer Glen Illinois
Chris Wanderling - Utility - Benedictine University - Nazareth High School, lives in LaGrange Illinois

Patriots Sign Three More for 2010 Summer

January 27th, 2010 - Coach Mike Schultz announced the signing of three more players for the 2010 season.
Kevin LaPorta (Oakton Community College) will pick up quality innings on the mound this summer. He held the best record (8-3) at OCC as a freshman last spring.
Jeremy Winnan (Judson University) will add depth to the Patriot roster this summer. He was an All Big Northern Conference player as a unior and senior at Marengo High School. He threw a no-hitter as a Judson U. freshman last spring.
Brian Evans (Elmhurst College) is a solid second baseman with an above average glove and the ability to put the ball in play and make things happen at the top of the lineup. He will look to get on base and set the table for the Patriots.

Play Ball USA Patriots Sign Four More for 2010
Kevin Serna (Augustana College) was a two time all-conference player at Rolling Meadows High School. The former two sport standout is currently a sophomore at Augustana and will be looking to start in the outfield for the Vikings this spring.
Jacob Rone (Parkland College) will be an impact player on the mound as a rising-freshman. He has a fastball with run and good secondary pitches.
Ryan Konsler (John Carroll University) is a top level defensive outfielder who was a an all-conference and all-area player while at Lake Forest High School.
Derek Shomon (Judson University) should put up big numbers in the middle of the Patriots order. At 6'3' and 265lbs. he is an intimidating force."

The PlayBall Patriots added two-way player Jack Kosar to their roster for the 2010 summer. Kosar is a freshman at Illinois Institute of Technology and is expected to see time in the the outfield and on the mound. Jack is from Lake in the Hills, Illinois and attended Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Illinois.

PlayBall Patriots Pick up Keith Brand
The Patriots sign their second catcher in less than a week when Keith Brand submitted his 2010 contract.
Brand is a freshman at the Univesity of Iowa. He is also a 2009 graduate of Glenbrook North High School in Illinois

Colin Semler Joins the Patriots

Colin Semler is the latest collegiate player to commit to the PlayBall USA Patriots for the 2010 summer.
Semler is currently a freshman at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. He will see time this spring behind the plate and at the corner infield spots. Coach Schultz is excited about the versatility he will bring to the squad as well as his consistent bat.
Prior to McLennan, Semler was an All-Conference and All-Area player at Elk Grove High School.

Patriots Sign Nick DePaul
Play Ball USA Patriots Manager Mike Schultz is excited about the signing of Nick DePaul (Benedictine University) for the 2010 season.
DePaul made 7 starts for Benedictine as a freshman in 2009 and will be at the top of their rotation in 2010. His 3-2 record and 4.81 ERA earned him NAC All-Freshman honors. Prior to BU, Nick was an All-Conference player and Team Captain at Maine South High School in 2008.

Joe Heller Joins Play Ball USA Patriots as Assistant Coach

Joe Heller, who played in the MCSBL over the course of the past few summers, has joined the Patriots coaching staff for the 2010 summer.
Heller is currently an assistant coach at North Central College, his alma mater, where he works with the infielders and hitters and also over sees the teams strength and conditioning. Heller has played in instrumental role in NCC's recruiting efforts this year.

Patriots to Play in MCSBL - Collegiate Summer Baseball
Oakton CC will serve as the home field for the Patriots.
The Metropolitan Collegiate Summer Baseball League of Illinois has been in existence since 1978, with the commitment of promoting continued success and quality baseball in our communities.
Formally known as the Metro Thorobred League of Illinois, the league name was changed and Incorporated in 1987. The Metro League provides an opportunity for college players 19 through 22 years-old to improve and develop their baseball skills during their summer break. The League is formed from teams from the suburbs of Chicago.
College players, home for the summer, can enjoy their families and friends, together with participating in a good competitive league. Official Major League (American League) rules are used with the exception of mandatory use of double ear flap helmets and college safety slide rule. The league has used wood bats since 1992.
MCSBL, has a short action packed season. The league starts registration in the beginning of May with a starting date the first week in June. Play continues for 8 weeks with tournament play the first week in August. Teams can advance to the following National tournaments, All American Amateur Baseball Association (AAABA), National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF), and the Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA).
College players are highly recommended by college coaches and scouts to baseball in the MCSBL. The league supplies seasoned and experienced coaches, providing the opportunity for the athlete to play with a superb league, and to improve his potential of becoming a pro. Experienced college umpires handle games.
