McKendree Baseball Signs Four for 2014

McKendree Bearcats head baseball coach Jim Boehne announced the signing of four student athletes for the 2014 season.

Tyson Boehne, Jim's youngest son, is a utility player who hit .382 with 3 homers and went 3-3 on the mound last year.  Tyson attended Carlyle HS and lives in Carlyle Illinois.

Bradley Groleau is an outfielder from St. Bede Academy.  Bradley hit .485 with 8 triples, 2 homers, and 42 rbi's last season.  Groleau lives in Peru Illinois.

Kyle Jackson is a catcher from Carlyle HS who hit .358 with 2 homers and 16 rbi's last year.  Kyle lives in Hoffman, Illinois.

Left handed pitcher Dylan Salsman was 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA at Francis Howell HS.  Dylan is from St. Louis Mo.

McKendree Baseball's Dinkelmann Earns September Call up With Twins

Former McKendree University baseball player Brian Dinkelman earned a September call-up to the bigs with the Minnesota Twins earlier this month and has shown well since.

Dinkelman, a Centralia Illinois native, has hit .324 in 68 at bats since being called up.  Brian still holds 24 McKendree Bearcat records along with five NAIA records.

McKendree Baseball Goes 1-3 on Opening Weekend

The McKendree University (Lebanon Illinois) Baseball Bearcats opened their 2011 season with a 10-6 victory over Louisiana College in Pineville Louisana.  The rest of the weekend did not go as well as the Bearcats dropped the next three in a row to Louisiana 7-3, 8-4 and 5-3.

Highlights in the game one victory for the Bearcats -  Kyle Moll (Mascoutah IL) went 3-4 with 3 rbi's, Andy Kuehn (Mascoutah IL) 2-3, double and 2 rbi's, Brandyn Snider (Fielden IL) and Rob Beatty (Milstadt IL) also added 2 rbi's.  Jordan Law (Chatham IL) wound up picking up the victory on the mound in 2/3rd's innings of work.

McKendree Baseball Splits with Hannibal-LaGrange


McKendree Baseball starts off the conference schedule with at split with Hannibal-LaGrange losing game one in the bottom of the seventh 5-4 and winning game two 2-1.

Ryan Meyer belted a two-run homer and Daniel Corwin a solo homer in game one and Muren added a two-run homer in game two.  Three pitchers combined for a two hitter in game two Korey Duncan pitched the first five for his second win.

McKendree University Baseball Goes Deep on Union College

McKendree University went deep four times on Saturday and defeated Union College 9-5.  McKendree bounced back from a 12-0 loss on Friday to even up the series 1-1.  Adam Davinroy, Kory Peppenhorst, Daniel Corwin and Kyle Moll all homered in the 9-5 win.  Dakota Schutt went 5 innings to earn his first victory of the season.

McKendree Baseball Postpones Home Opener Against Olivet Nazarene

McKendree was slated to open the home portion of their 2010 schedule Friday and Saturday against Olivet Nazarene University. Those games have been scrapped as well, with no make-up date announced.


McKendree will be in action this weekend as the team will travel to Henderson, Tenn., for games against Freed-Hardeman University and Union College. The Bearcats will meet host Freed-Hardeman for a seven-inning contest on Friday at 3 p.m., before taking on Union on the same field at 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday at noon, McKendree and Union will meet again on the campus of Freed-Hardeman for the Bearcats’ final game of the weekend.

With the adjustment in the schedule, McKendree will now play its home opener on Saturday, March 6 in a doubleheader against Saint Ambrose University.

McKendree University Opens Baseball Season February 12


McKendree University in LeBanon Illinois will open the baseball season February 12, 2010 in McKenzie Tennessee against Bethel University.  McKendree is coming off of a 37-21-2 record in 2009 and is looking to repeat as conference champions in 2010.

Former McKendree Bearcat Brian Dinkelman Gets Non-Roster Invitation

Former McKendree University baseball star Brian Dinkelman was one of 14 players to receive a non-roster invitation to attend spring training with the Minnesota Twins.



Dinkelman, who was the 2006 NAIA Player of the Year, earned the invitation after hitting .296 with eight home runs and 65 runs batted in playing for the New Britain Rock Cats, a Double-A affiliate for the Twins. Dinkelman was tied for seventh in the Eastern League in batting average, and was second in doubles with 38. He also ranked among league leaders in on-base percentage (.383), hits (136), total bases (202) and slugging percentage (.440).

An eighth-round pick of the Twins in the 2006 Major League Baseball draft, Dinkelman has been an All-Star in each of his three full seasons in the minor leagues. Last season, he was a mid-season and post-season All-Star selection for the Rock Cats. Dinkelman played at second base and in the outfield for New Britain.

At McKendree, Dinkelman set five NAIA career records, including hits (373), doubles (96), runs scored (303), total bases (670) and assists (679). Dinkelman was a three-time NAIA All-America selection, earning first-team honors in 2004 and 2006 and second-team accolades in 2005. He was a four-team All-Conference honoree as was named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Year in each of his final three seasons with the Bearcats. Dinkelman still holds or shares 24 McKendree team records.

2010 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll Announced

Saint Xavier University in Chicago Illinois has been ranked #24 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Preaseason poll. 


McKendree University and the University of St. Francis received votes but did not make it into the preseason top 25.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the 25 conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups. The first regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on March 30, 2010.
