Joe Scumaci (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence/Triton) earned his first victory of the season in style with a 13-strikeout performance in a 4-2 victory over Hillsdale on Friday afternoon. Lewis rallied from a four-run deficit to take the lead in game two, but ultimately fell 8-7.
Scumaci (1-1) threw a complete game, giving up only four hits. Both runs he surrendered came in the sixth inning.
Scumaci's 13 strike outs is the most for a Lewis pitcher in a single game since David Ingram fanned 15 against Wentworth Institute of Technology on March 8, 1998 in a nine inning game.
