2012 Top Illinois Baseball Players to Watch in the MAC

The 2012 top baseball players to watch in the Mid American Conference from Illinois or on Illinois teams.  The list is based on how the conference coaches voted in the pre-season polls.


Relief Pitcher Dietrich Enis, Central Michigan, LHP Dietrich is from Lincoln Way East HS and lives in Frankfort Illinois.

RHP Jon Weaver, Central Michigan, Jon is from East Leyden HS and lives in Franklin Park Illinois.

Outfielder Bryce Redeker, Miami Ohio, Bryce is a transfer from Kankakee Community College, went to Bishop McNamara HS and lives in Watseka Illinois.

1B Jeff Zimmerman, Northern Illinois, Jeff is from Andrew HS and lives in Tinley Park Illinois.

SS Alex Jones, Northern Illinois, Alex is from Kansas City Kansas.

Outfielder Jamison Wells, Northern Illinois, Jamison is from Combined Locks WI.

3B Troy White, Northern Illinois, Troy went to Whitney Young HS and lives in Chicago Illinois.

RHP Tony Manville, Northern Illinois, Tony is a transfer from Iowa, went to Mount Carmel HS and lives in New Lenox Illinois.

Relief Pitcher Kyle Glancy, Northern Illinois, Kyle attended Oak Park River Forest HS and lives in Oak Park Illinois.

LHP Casey Webber, Western Michigan, Casey is from Providence Catholic HS and lives in Tinley Park Illinois.

3B Ryan McMillin, Western Michigan, Ryan attended Lyons Township HS and lives in LaGrange Illinois.

Jeff Zimmerman from Northern Illinois Baseball Selected to NCBWA Freshman All-American Team

Northern Illinois DH Jeff Zimmerman was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American second team announed on Monday.

Zimmerman led the Huskies in home runs with 11 and a .540 slugging percentage.  Jeff is one of 14 conference Freshman of the Year winner on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association list and the only representative from the Mid-American Conference.

Jeff is from Victor J. Andrew High School and lives in Tinley Park Illinois.

Outfielder Bryce Redeker, Miami of Ohio, medical redshirt in 2010, Kankakee Community College, Bishop McNamara, lives in Watseka IL.

Infielder Troy White, Northern Illinois University, .289 batting average, 5 doubles, 30 rbi's.  Troy is from Whitney Young High School and lives in Chicago IL.

Right handed pitcher Jeremy Gonzales, Northern Illinois University, 4-4 with a 4.30 ERA, 59 strikeouts last season.  Jeremy lives in Bakersfield CA.

Right handed pitcher Brian Stroud, Western Michigan University, medical redshirt in 2010.  Brian attended Providence Catholic High School and lives in Joliet IL.

Infielder/DH Ryan McMillin, Western Michigan University, .323 batting average, 5 home runs, 8 doubles, 25 rbi's.  Ryan is from Lyons Township High School and lives in LaGrange IL.

Deain lowered his ERA by 3.57 points (6.75 to 3.18) over 4 scoreless appearances.

Troy White, Northern Illinois, 3B
Sophomore, Chicago, Ill. (Whitney Young)
White is on a eight-game hit streak. During that stretch, White started all eight games, is 13-for-33 (.394) with three RBI and two runs scored... White went 4-for-5 with an RBI against Cal Poly on Tuesday, March 9.. White was 13-for-37 (.351) on NIU's California Spring Break road trip (3-6) and raised his season batting average (.250) over 160 points.
