University of Illinois Senior Pete Cappetta was named Big Ten Baseball Co-Player of the Week on May 3rd.
Cappetta hit .667 in a three game series against Northwestern with a double, a homer, drove in three and scored five times. Cappetta went 3-3 with runners in scoring position and had a slugging percentage of 1.000. The Big Ten Player of the Week Award was the first for Pete.
Pete is from Montini High School and lives in Lisle Illinois.
Hinsdale Central pitchers Chris Bobo and John Spacapan retired the first 13 batters and the first Montini runner to reach base was Ben Dobosenski on a walk in the fifth inning. It only matters what the final score is and Montini took advantage of that scoring once in the sixth on an error, a wild pitch and flair to right (looks like a line drive in the book!).
Hindale Central wound up with three hits and Montini's Anthony Reeber earned the victory.
