Lyons Township wins 2012 Summer Championship

Lyons Township's Max Larsen threw six innings and drove in three runs as Lyons defeated Joliet Catholic 7-3 to win the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association 2012 Phil Lawler Summer Championship.


Lyons has won the summer tournament four times since 2002.  


Mike Lorenz and Tom Prescott both had two hits for LT.  Lorenz was named the tournament MVP.

Final Four Set in Illinois High School Summer Championship

It's down to the final four team at the 2012 Phil Lawler Summer State Finals with St. Lawrence playing Joliet Catholic and Lyons Township playing Jacobs today at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.


The two winners will meet for the summer championship at 7:00 pm tonight at Benedictine.

Lincoln-Way North Wins Summer Baseball Championship

The Lincoln-Way North baseball team captured it's first summer state baseball championship at the Phil Lawler Summer Classic Tournament just three years after playing its first varsity game with an 8-5 win over Prairie Ridge.

Reed Hero became the hero as he delivered a single in the top of the seventh to give the Phoenix (21-4) a 6-5 lead.  The Phoenix added a couple of insurance runs on a two out single up the middle from Josh Handzik.  Reed Hero was named the MVP of the Phil Lawler Summer Classic.

Nazareth Wins 2010 Summer Championship

Nazareth Academy was crowned the 2010 Phil Lawler Champions by defeating Streamwood High School 9-2 on July 29th.

Dominic Purpura earned the win throwing five innings giving up six hits and no earned runs.  Ryan Powers went 2-3 with a grand slam, 4 rbi's, a walk and scored twice and was named the tournament MVP.

This was the first summer tournament for both Streamwood High School and Nazareth Academy.  Nazareth finished the summer season 33-4-2 and Streamwood finished 31-6.

Illinois High School Baseball Summer Tournament

The Illinois High School Baseball Summer Tournament (Phil Lawler Summer Classic) is down to the final eight and will resume play Monday July 26th at North Central College and Benedictine University.

Game 1 - Palatine vs St. Charles East - 10:00 am @ North Central College
Game 2 - Streamwood vs Nazareth - 12:30 pm @ North Central College
Game 3 - Providence vs Neuqua Valley - 10:00 am @ Benedictine University
Game 4 - Lake Zurich vs St. Laurence - 12:30 pm @ Benedictine University
