The Illinois High School Baseball Summer Tournament (Phil Lawler Summer Classic) is down to the final eight and will resume play Monday July 26th at North Central College and Benedictine University.
Game 1 - Palatine vs St. Charles East - 10:00 am @ North Central College Game 2 - Streamwood vs Nazareth - 12:30 pm @ North Central College Game 3 - Providence vs Neuqua Valley - 10:00 am @ Benedictine University Game 4 - Lake Zurich vs St. Laurence - 12:30 pm @ Benedictine University
Downers Grove North pitcher Anthony Ciango gave his verbal commitment to play college baseball at Northern Illinois University. Ciango went 3-3 with 47 strikeouts as a junior at Downers Grove North High School.
Jake Howells was officially approved as Dekalb's High School varsity baseball coach at the DeKalb school board meeting on Monday night with a 6-0 vote.
Howells was the former sophomore baseball coach at Sycamore High School and is currently one of the coaches with the DeKalb County Liners.
