CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball players of the week go to Jacob Van Duyne and Ben Heaton.

Van Duyne earned the CCIW Hitter of the Week going 10-18 (.556) with two doubles, 3 rbi's and scoring five times last week.  Jacob is a junior from Wilmington Illinois.

Heaton won the CCIW Pitcher of the Week honors by working seven innings, striking out six and issuing only one walk in a 6-0 victory.  Ben is from Heaton, Illinois.

Eric Rohe and Trey Martin Earn CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

Carthage senior Eric Rohe and Wheaton junior Trey Martin earned the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball Players of the Week for the week ending April 15th.

Eric Rohe earned Pitcher of the Week honors by picking up two wins last week.  Rohe threw a complete game 7-0 victory over North Park allowing only three singles in seven innings.  Eric also beat Illinois Wesleyan throwing six innings, giving up three runs.  Eric attended Mundelein HS and lives in Mundelein Illinois.

Outfielder Trey Martin received the Hitter of the Week award by batting .571 with two doubles, a triple, a home run and six rbi's last week.  Trey is from Wheaton North High School and lives in Wheaton Illinois.

Brown, Peters Earn College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

Connor Brown and David Peters were named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball players of the week for the week ending April 8th.


North Central sophomore Connor Brown earned the CCIW Pitcher of the Week honors throwing seven scoreless innings against Illinois Wesleyan last week.  Connor attended University HS and lives in Bloomington Illinois.

Senior Millikin outfielder David Peters hit .421 with a homer, a double, two rbi's and scored eight times last week.  David is a transfer from Lincoln Land Community College and lives in Decatur Illinois.

Sanchez and Kuligowski Named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

North Park University Viking baseball players Tony Sanchez and Steve Kuligowski earned the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week honors for the week ending March 25th.

Senior catcher Tony Sanchez earned Hitter of the Week hitting .500 with 7 hits in 14 at bats, seven rbi's, a homer and a double.  Tony is from Plainfield South HS and lives in Plainfield Illinois.

Senior pitcher Steve Kuligowski captured the Pitcher of the Week by going 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA last week.  Steve pitched 13 and 1/3rd innings giving up only one earned run and striking out 12 on the week.

Juhl, Golz and Rahn Named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball Players of the Week

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named three baseball players Players of the Week for last week. 

Jeremy Juhl, Augustana Illinois, was named Hitter of the Week by hitting .588 with 10 hits, 8 rbi's and two doubles last week.  Jeremy is from Glenbard East HS and lives in Lombard Illinois.

Also named Hitter of the Week was Drew Golz from Wheaton College.  Golz hit .667 with two homers, four rbi's and a slugging percentage of 1.333 last week.  Drew is from Oak Park River Forest HS and lives in River Forest Illinois.

Evan Rahn from Wheaton College earned the Pitcher of the Week award by throwing a shutout for eight innings against Dominican last week.  Evan struck out six and allowed only four hits.  Evan is from Bettendorf Iowa.

2012 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin(CCIW) Baseball Preview

Illinois Wesleyan and North Park finished on top of the CCIW in 2011 and Wesleyan returns all but two position players for 2012. 

Illinois Wesleyan has finished on top of the CCIW three of the last five years and returns with All-American first baseman Kevin Callahan and All-Region players Jon Erickson, Bobby Czarnowski and A.J. Nathan.

North Park lost their starting outfield and all but one starting infielder, All-Region third baseman Ryan Javich.  2011 All-Conference picks Eric Sousanes and Brad Medina will also add leadership for North Park in 2012.

Wheaton College returns All-Region players Trey Martin and Justin Zeller.  Between the two they hit 17 home runs and drove in 79 last year.

Augustana returns their most outstanding pitcher, Jared McIntosh.  McIntosh was a first team All-CCIW in 2011 and went 4-0 with a 2.68 era.  Joing McIntosh is closer Josiah Martin and infielder Joe Cecchi.

North Central also lost it's starting outfield to graduation but three year starter Steve Hlavac will return to the outfield after an injury in 2011.

Elmhurst returns fifth year senior infielder Zach Hofer who is also the teams closer.  Second team All-Region sophomore Dave Wolek and Gold Glove infielder Brian Evans also return for the Blue Jays.

Milikin returns infielder Theo Facer, .345, 8 doubles, and outfielder Dan Weber .272, 18 rbi's.

Illinois Wesleyan Earns #1 Seed in CCIW Baseball Tournament

The Illinois Wesleyan Baseball Team earned the #1 seed in the 2011 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) which begins on May 12th.  North Park, which tied with Illinois Wesleyan for the conference title, earned the #2 seed.  The tournament will be held in Bloomington Illinois at Illinois Wesleyan's Jack Horenberger Field.

Illinois Wesleyan Baseball Tied for First Place in CCIW

Illinois Wesleyan swept a double header 15-0 and 8-0 over North Central College to put the Titans in a first place tie with Carthage College on top of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.  If Illinois Wesleyan and Carthage tie for first in the CCIW, the two teams will both be co-champions but Illinois Wesleyan would be the host of the conference tournament since they won two out of three from Carthage.

Illinois Wesleyan plays North Central College at North Central today at 2:00 pm and Carthage plays at North Park at noon.

Nate Arenson and Will Hodges Named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

North Central pitcher Nate Arenson and Carthage Outfielder Will Hodges earned College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball players of the week on May 3rd.

Arenson, a senior from Naperville North High School, threw a nine inning complete game in North Central's 5-1 win over Augustana last week.  Nate did not allow an earned run, struck out three and walked one.

Hodges, a senior from Oak Park Illinois, went 11-18 with four doubles, a homer and 14 rbi's last week.  Hodges also won the player of the week award on April 5th.

Kevin Callahan and Steve Kuligowski CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

 Kevin Callahan from Illinois Wesleyan and Steve Kuligowski from North Park both earned the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball Players of the Week on April 12th.

Sophomore first baseman Callahan hit .572 with a homer, a double, eight rbi's and seven runs scored for Illinois Wesleyan last week.  Kevin went 5-5 in an 18-13 victory over Augustana on April 5th.  Kevin is from Brother Rice High School and lives in Chicago Illinois.

Junior pitcher Steve stuck out 10 and walking one last week.  Steve leads North Park with a 5-1 record and 47 strikeouts along with a 2.72 ERA on the season.  Steve is a transfer from Parkland College and lives in Grayslake Illinois.

North Park's Athans and McGrady College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

This week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball players of the week Andy Athans and Merrick McGrady are both from North Park University.

Andy Athans, a senior outfielder from Lincoln-Way Central, hit .737 with seven doubles, a home run, four rbi's and a stolen base last week.  Andy is hitting .444 on the season and lives in New Lenox Illinois.

Merrick McGrady is a freshman pitcher from Stevenson High School and pitched seven innings, gave up two hits and struck out ten in his college debut.  Merrick also picked up a save on the week and struck out another three.  Merrick lives in Buffalo Grove Illinois.

Steve Kuligowski and Justin Zeller CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

North Park's Steve Kuligowski and Wheaton's Justin Zeller were named College of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week on March 22nd.

Junior Pitcher Steve Kuligowski threw a nine inning complete game 4-1 win over St. Lawrence College on March 19th.  Kuligowski struck out a North Park record 17 batters giving up one run on six hits.  Earlier in the same week Steve recorded another win throwing six innings giving up 8 hits, 3 earned runs and striking out 9.  Steve is a transfer from Parkland College and lives in Grayslake Illinois.

Justin Zeller, a junior outfielder from Indianapolis Indiana, hit .625 last week with two homers, five rbi's and scored three times.  Against Judson last week Zeller went 4-4 with four rbi's and scored twice.

Wolak and Rashid Named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

Dave Wolak and Jon Rashid were named CCIW baseball players of the week for the week ending March 13th.

Elmhurst College freshman outfielder Dave Wolak hit .583, scored seven runs and had 5 rbi's in four games last week.  Dave also did not strikeout, walked four times and had an on base percentage of .706 in four games.  Dave is from Glenbard North High School and lives in Carol Stream Illinois.

North Central's sophomore pitcher Jon Rashid pitched six shutout innings allowing 3 hits, striking out six and not allowing a walk.  Jon is from Niles West High School and is from Skokie Illinois.

Trey Martin and Drew Golz Named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

Wheaton College baseball players Trey Martin and Drew Golz were named CCIW players of the week for the ending March 8th.

Sophomore infield Trey Martin went 3-4 in game one with two homers and three rbi's in Wheaton's 10-5 victory over Eastern Nazarene.  In Wheaton's second game of the season Martin went 2-4 with another home run and two more rbi's in the 12-3 victory over Monmouth College.  In his first two games Martin is hitting .625 with 3 homers, two triples and five rbi's.  Trey is from Wheaton North High School and lives in Wheaton Illinois.

Junior left handed pitcher Drew Golz earned his first win of the season against Monmouth going five innings, gave up no hits or runs and struck out seven.

Illinois Wesleyan Baseball Wins 2010 CCIW Tournament

Illinois Wesleyan (23-20) will make it's eighth apperance in the Division III Baseball Championship by defeating Carthage twice Sunday and capturing the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament title.  By winning the CCIW tournament the Titans received an automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships.

Illinois Wesleyan will move on to the Central Regional, hosted by Augustana College in Moline Illinois, as the #6 seed.

Regional games will start on Wednesday, May 19 2010.

2010 CCIW Baseball Tournament

North Central College lands the number one seed in the 2010 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Tournament with a 17-4 conference record and 31-7 overall.

The 2010 tourney starts Friday May 14th at North Central College - the full schedule is below.

Nick Marino and Nate Arenson Named CCIW Players of the Week

Nick Marino and Nate Arenson were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the week for the week ending May 4th, 2010.

Nick Marino, a senior shortstop from North Park, hit .692 last week, scored five runs, two doubles, a triple and three rbi's.

Nate Arenson, a junior pitcher from North Central College, pitched 16 and 2/3rds innings last week with a 1.08 era.  Nate has left every game with the lead this season.

Giovenco, Hoffman Named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week


Mike Giovenco and Dave Hoffman were named CCIW players of the week for the week ending April 20th, 2010.

Giovenco, a junior pitcher from North Park, struck out 15 batters last week.  Against Milikin, Mike struck out 13 giving up two runs on three hits in a 6-5 victory.  The other two K's came against Elmhurst College in a 11-7 victory with a one inning relief appearance.

Hoffman, a junior infielder from Augustana, hit .519 last week (14-27) scored nine runs, five doubles, a dinger and five rbi's on the week.
