Illinois Baseball Players Fairing Well With Dubois County Bombers

Three college baseball players from Illinois are contributing to the Dubois County Bombers success this season as the Bomber play for the Prospect League Championship this week.

Third baseman Cody Daily hit .263 this summer with 2 homers, 7 doubles and 30 rbi's is from Granite City, Illinois and attends Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  Cody also was voted to the mid-season all-star team.

Pitchers Ryan Billo, Nelson Marchan and Jon Rashid have also combined for four victory's on the mound for the Bombers.  Billo is from Orland Park, Illinois and attends the University of Evansville, Marchan is from Elmwood Park, Illinois and attends Central Methodist and Rashid is from Skokie, Illinois and attends North Central College.

North Central College Baseball Prospect Camp October 23, 2011

North Central College baseball will host a fall prospect camp on October 23, 2011 at Zimmerman Stadium on the North Central College campus.  The camp is for players who will be graduating high school in 2012 or 2013.  The camp will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and will cost each camper $45.00

Nate Arenson and Will Hodges Named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week

North Central pitcher Nate Arenson and Carthage Outfielder Will Hodges earned College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball players of the week on May 3rd.

Arenson, a senior from Naperville North High School, threw a nine inning complete game in North Central's 5-1 win over Augustana last week.  Nate did not allow an earned run, struck out three and walked one.

Hodges, a senior from Oak Park Illinois, went 11-18 with four doubles, a homer and 14 rbi's last week.  Hodges also won the player of the week award on April 5th.

Illinois Wesleyan Baseball Ranked 5th in Division III Pre-Season Poll

The Illinois Wesleyan Titans, last years Division III National Champions, are ranked 5th on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper pre-season poll.  The Titans finished the 2010 season with a 31-21 record.

Other Illinois teams that received votes but did not land in the rankings are:

North Central College (31-11)
North Park (28-15)
Aurora University (27-16)

North Central College Baseball Prospect Camp October 24th

North Central College will host a fall prospect for high school juniors and seniors on October 24th 2010.

The camp will be held at North Central's Zimmerman Stadium and will be staffed by North Central coaches and players. 

Campers will be evaluated and will be able to attend a variety of instructional sessions as well as a scrimmage.

The cost of the camp is $45 for early registration and $50 on the day of the camp.  The camp will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

North Central College Qualifies for the 2010 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship

For the first time since 1988,  the North Central College baseball team will participate in the Division III Baseball Championship.  The Cardinals received an at large bid and the #2 seed in the Central Region Championship which will be hosted by Augustana College in Moline, Illinois. 

The regional tournament will start on Wednesday May 19th, 2010.

2010 CCIW Baseball Tournament

North Central College lands the number one seed in the 2010 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Tournament with a 17-4 conference record and 31-7 overall.

The 2010 tourney starts Friday May 14th at North Central College - the full schedule is below.

North Central College Baseball Ranked #22

North Central College lands at #22 on the most current Division III Baseball poll dated May 2nd.  The Cardinals, who went 5-0 last week, improved their overall record to 28-5 and 15-3 in conference.  North Central is on the edge of capturing the CCIW crown with only a series against Illinois Wesleyan left on the conference schedule.

Michael Corrigan and Peter Sparcino Named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

Michael Corrigan from North Central College and Peter Sparcino were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Baseball Players of the Week for the week ending March 30, 2010.

Corrigan, a junior catcher from St. Charles North High School, hit .545 with two home runs, four doubles and 11 rbi's and 8 runs scored for North Central last week.

Sparcino, a junior pitcher from Shurz High School, pitched a complete game going 9 innings giving up only four hits and one earned run for North Park in a victory against Wisconsin-Superior.

North Central College Moves to 11-1


North Central College improves it's record to 11-1 and remains unbeaten at home with a double header sweep from the University of Wisconsin-Superior 11-5 and 8-5.  Cardinal catcher Michael Corrigan went 4-4 with a homer, two doubles, a single and six rbi's.  Nate Arenson worked 5.1 innings to move to 3-0 on the season. 

In game two it was Matt Abraham's turn to go 4-4 with four singles and two rbi's.  Micah Yarrough went five innings giving up one earned run his second victory on the season.

North Central Baseball Picked to Finish Fifth in CCIW

The North Central College baseball team has been picked to finish fifth in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin in 2010, according to the annual preseason poll of the CCIW's head coaches.


The Cardinals finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 11-25-1, and finished sixth in the final CCIW standings with a record of 7-13-1. North Central returns seven starters among its position players and nearly its entire pitching staff from last year's roster, including three All-Midwest Region selections in outfielder Matt Abraham, catcher Michael Corrigan, and first baseman/designated hitter Joe Turek. Corrigan and pitcher Mike Kloss both received All-CCIW recognition last season as well.

North Central College Athletics - Cardinals to Host Winter Camp: "Cardinals to Host Winter Camp"

North Central head baseball coach John Fitzgerald has announced the dates for the 2009-10 North Central College Winter Baseball Camps. The camps will be geared toward area boys and girls, grades 1-8, during the upcoming months.

The Cardinals will conduct three-hour skills camps on six different Friday evenings during the winter months. All camp sessions will be held between 6 and 9 p.m. and will take place at North Central College’s Merner Field House. Each camp will include individual and group instruction on all facets of the game. The camps are designed to give local youth players a firm knowledge of the game and the ability to sharpen their skills during the winter months, while allowing their parents to enjoy many of the shopping and restaurant options of downtown Naperville on a Friday evening.

Instruction will cover the areas of hitting, pitching, base-running, infield & outfield play and catching. Campers will be taught the same drills used by the North Central Cardinal Baseball program. The College’s Merner Field House is equipped with two full batting cages, three portable pitching mounds and areas for hitting and fielding drills.

All proceeds for the Cardinal Winter Baseball Camps will help support the North Central baseball team’s Spring Break trip to Florida in the spring of 2010.
