Aurora University Baseball Picked to Win the NAC for 2012

Aurora University baseball is picked to win the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference by D3Baseball.com.

Returning for Aurora are two D3Baseball.com Third Team All-Americans, senior outfielder Josh Davidson and DH Mike Foley.  Also returning for the Spartans is NAC Co-Pitcher of the Year Drew Gay.

Concordia Illinois looks to be as good as Aurora in 2012 with the NAC Position Player of the Year catcher Nick Skala.  Skala was drafted in the 37th round by the Orioles but returned to school.  Also returning are All-American outfielder Cam Stevens and outfielder Dan Eichholzer.

Illinois Benedictine returns seven position players and five pitchers for 2012.  Head baseball coach John Ostrowski is looking for his 900th win this season.  Coach Ostrowski begins his 39th season at Benedictine.

Rockford returns two All-Conference players with infielder Jimmy Dercks and outfielder/infielder Ryne Billesbach.

Illinois Benedictine Baseball Camp Dates Announced

The Illinois Benedictine University baseball program announced the dates for their annual pre-season baseball camp.  The camp will be held on four separate Friday's in 2012.  The camp is designed to promote the fundamentals to players ages from 7-13 years old.

Dates of the camps are January 27, February 3, February 10 and February 17 and will meet from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Any 1 session costs $40
Any 2 sessions costs $78
Any 3 sessions costs $115
All 4 sessions costs $150

Illinois Wesleyan One Hits Illinois Benedictine

Jason Pankau pitched a seven-inning one-hitter in an Illinois Wesleyan 11-1 win over Benedictine Saturday in St. Louis.  Panko struck out 14 and Mike Morrissey had two hits including a home run, Casey McIntosh had two rbi's with a single and a walk.

Benedictine University Baseball - Florida trip highlights exciting 2010 season

The highlight of the Benedictine baseball season is a nine-day tournament in Florida over spring break.


The 2010 tournament will be played at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, the former spring training site of the Cleveland Indians.

Youngsters who want to learn the proper techniques and fundamentals of baseball should attend Benedictine University's 2010 Pre-Season Baseball Camp from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays, January 29, February 5, 12 and 19 in the campus' Dan and Ada Rice Center.


The clinics are designed for youngsters who want to become more proficient in the fundamentals of baseball. The main goal of the camp is making certain each student receives individual instruction and coaching. Individual attention is assured by the camps low camper-to-instructor ratio. Players are grouped by age and ability.

The clinics are conducted by veteran Benedictine University baseball coach and Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame member John Ostrowski. Ostrowski's 37-year record at Benedictine includes more than 845 victories. Staff includes Benedictine's assistant coaches and varsity players.

Camp participants will receive a Benedictine baseball T-shirt. Campers should bring a baseball glove and wear gym shoes. Bats will be provided. The camps are open to youngsters ages 7-13. The fee is $40 for one session, $78 for two sessions, $115 for three sessions and $150 for all four sessions.

Campers are encouraged to register early. All four sessions sold out last year. For information, call (630) 829-6140, or register online.
