St. Francis Baseball Sweeps #20 Judson
The University of St. Francis baseball team disagreed with the #20 ranking of Judson University as the Fighting Saints sweep Judson in a two game set 3-0 and
5-4 yesterday.
In game one St. Francis freshman Adam Panayotovich threw his second shutout in a week going seven innings and allowing only three hits in a 3-0 victory. Outfielder David Kuhne went 2-3 with an rbi and DH Steve Cservenyak went 1-3 with the other two rbi's.
It took eight innings in game two but Tim Reichert's single drove in Brad Porter for the game winner. Corey Schultz pitched the final two innings to pick up the win for St. Francis.

Judson Baseball Features Two NAIA Players to Watch in 2012
Judson University in Elgin Illinois features two NAIA players to watch in 2012.
Senior outfielder Matt McHenry who hit .299 with 6 home runs, 17 doubles and 41 rbi's in 2011. Matt is from Blue Spring CO.
Junior RHP/DH T.J. Swank hit .331 with 6 homers, 9 doubles, and 39 rbi's and on the mound T.J. went 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA and 6 saves in 15 appearances last season. Swank is from Crystal Lake Illinois and transferred from Coastal Carolina.

Judson Illinois Baseball in Drivers Seat for CCAC Baseball Tournament
The Judson Eagles are the only unbeaten team after games on Wednesday in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.
Judson defeated St. Francis 10-3 on Wednesday and posted a school record 40th win of the season. Ben Palmer (Hampshire Illinois) went 6 1/3rd innings recording a career high 11 strikeouts for his 5th win on the season. DH Nate Rohl (Rockford Illinois) went 3-5 with 2 rbi's, RF Matt McHenry (Blue Springs MO) 2-5 with a double and three rbi's and 2B Brian Brauer (Streamwood Illinois) was 3-5 with 2 runs scored.
Other CCAC Games
Trinity International knocked out #1 seed Robert Morris with a 5-1 victory on Wednesday. George Heller (Elgin Illinois) held Robert Morris to 5 hits and one earned run and struck out nine.
Olivet Nazarene defeated St. Xaiver 5-1 as Junior Tyler Shore (Elgin Illinois)held St. Xaiver to four hits and one unearned run. Kevin Lasowski (Shererville IN) drove in the Tigers first three runs going 2-2 on the day.

George Heller and Nat Rohl Named Chicagland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week
Junior pitcher Greg Heller from Trinity International University has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week with a complete game over Dakota Wesleyan last week. Heller went seven innings gave up only two hits and struck out 3. Heller (Elgin Illinois) is currently 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA.
Senior infielder Nate Rohl from Judson University earns the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball hitter of the week by hitting .429 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 10 rbi's. Nate lives in Rockford Illinois.

Judson University Baseball Starts off 4-0
The Judson University Eagles start off their 2011 baseball season with a perfect 4-0 record. Day one saw Judson take an opening day double header from Loyola University-New Orleans 6-4 and 8-2.
In game one Ben Palmer threw five shutout innings giving up four hits to earn his first victory of the season. T.J. Swank closed out the game with two strikeouts to earn the save. Gary Capoilino had two rbi's for the Eagles.
In game two Joe Young led Judson with three hits and Brian Brauer had two. Nick Krisman pitched four innings, got the win, and Joe Huenecke pitched the last three innings to earn his first save.
Games 3 and 4 saw Judson increase their record to 4-0 on the season by taking two more from Loyola University-New Orleans by the scores of 11-4 and 12-3.
Next up for the Eagles is a four game series against Ashbury College on February 11th.

Former MLB Sal Fasano to Speak At Judson University
ELGIN, Ill. - Former Major League Baseball player and current AA manager Sal Fasano will be speaking at Judson University on Saturday, January 29th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the 1st Pitch Bash Fundraiser for the Judson University baseball team. The event will take place at the Lindner Fitness Center and tickets can be purchased for $5 from Rich Benjamin in the Judson University Athletics Office.
The night will feature a baseball park atmosphere as fans will have a chance to buy ballpark food and bid on silent auction items. The baseball team will also have a 2011 introduction video of the team.
Fasano is a 11-year veteran of Major League Baseball as a catcher and played for nine different teams in the National and American Leagues. He is currently an AA manager in the Toronto Blue Jays organization and is originally from Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Judson University Baseball Picked to Win 2011 CCAC
The Judson University Eagles are picked to win the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference from NAIA conference polls.
Judson won 39 games last season, which was the most in Eagle history.

Judson's Zach Williams Signs With the Winnipeg Goldeyes
Zach Williams signed his first professional baseball contract with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, an independent league team in the Northern League.
Wiliams, who signed on August 7th, hit .311 in 56 games for Judson in 2010 and toured with the U.S. Military All-Stars last summer. Zach is an infielder, transferred to Judson from Heartland Community College and is from Bloomington, IL.

Judson Baseball's Nick Krisman Signs With The Laconia Muskrats For 2010 Summer

Nick Krisman from Judson University in Elgin Illinois has signed with the Laconia Muskrats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League for this summer. Nick is a junior from St. Joseph Illinois and a transfer from Heartland Community College.

Heath Groves Picks up First Win For Judson Baseball

Heath Groves went 5.2 innings for the win and Ed Draper finished off the Crusaders in the final 1.1 innings for the save. Groves had one strikeout and gave up eight hits, five runs, and three earned runs.

Judson Baseball Splits with Clarke College

In their second day at the H.H.H. Metrodome, the Judson University baseball improved their play taking one of two games from Clarke College (3-1) for their first win of the year. Judson won game one, 8-5, but then gave up four runs in the sixth inning of game two falling 4-1. Heath Groves picked up the win and Ed Draper recorded the save in game one.

Heath Groves went 5.2 innings for the win and Ed Draper finished off the Crusaders in the final 1.1 innings for the save. Groves had one strikeout and gave up eight hits, five runs, and three earned runs. Draper had one strikeout and one hit in five batters faced.
Ben Vincent and Zach Williams each went 3-of-3 on the night as Williams had two doubles and three RBI to lead the team. John Amann had one hit, a triple, for one RBI and two runs scored. Vincent crossed plate three times for Judson. Nate Rohl, Andy Parsill, and Nick Norris all had one RBI.
Judson scored one run in the first inning on Williams' first double of the night to score Vincent. Clarke added two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead before Judson erupted for three runs in the third and one in the fourth for a 5-2 lead.
Clarke cut the lead to one, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth only to see Vincent score on a Clarke error. Judson added two more runs in the sixth for an 8-4 lead. Amann tripled home a run and Williams had his second double of the night to finish out the scoring.
In the bottom of the sixth, Clarke made things interesting scoring one run to come within three, 8-5. Draper came in to shut down the threat and record the first save of the year.
Game 2
Clarke 4, Judson 1
Clarke scored all of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after five shutout innings by Stefan Alinkas. Alinkas took the loss as his first two runners in the sixth reached on walks and both scored. He went five innings and gave up two runs on two hits with no earned runs. He had three walks and four strikeouts.
Draper went 0.2 innings and had two earned runs on one hit and then Kyle Murphy finished the final 0.1 innings facing one batter.
Judson had only three hits by Vincent, Levi Pippenger, and Nick Norris. Pippenger scored for Judson in the third inning on a double play to make it 1-0.
Judson will now see what the weather does as they are suppose to play at Harris-Stowe (MO) this upcoming weekend.

Judson Baseball Drops First Two of 2010 Season

It was not what the Judson University baseball team pictured for opening up the 2010 season as they dropped a double-header to Clarke College, 10-0 and 2-0. This is the first time for Judson to play indoors and in the month of February, ever, in the history of the program.
Clarke 10, Judson 0
Clarke started off strong in the first and second innings combining for four runs. They added three more in the fourth and three in the seventh to make it 10-0. There was a no-hitter through the fourth inning before Zach Williams broke it up.
Freshman John Amann went 2-of-4 in his first start at second base for Judson. Matt McHenry had the other hit for Judson.
Nick Krisman took the loss going five innings and giving up seven runs, five earned, with three strikeouts. Joe Huenecke finished the final two innings with three hits, three earned runs, and three runs scored.
Clarke 2, Judson 0
Game two had the same feel as game one only it took until the seventh inning for Clarke to score. Clarke put up two runs in the top of the 7th for the win. Mitch Smith went the distance for the loss giving up two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
Giovani Cantwell and Matt McHenry had the hits. Cantwell's was the first double of the season. Judson had a chance to score in the fifth inning with a runner on third and one out but could not bring him home.
Judson will be looking for their first run and win of the season on Tuesday, February 16th, at 5:00 p.m. in double-header game vs. Clarke.

Judson University Baseball Opener February 12th
The Judson Unversity Eagles from Elgin Illinois will open the 2010 baseball season February 12th in Wilmore Kentucky against Asbury College. Judson is coming off of a 30 win season and finished thrid in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2009.

Patriots Sign Three More for 2010 Summer

January 27th, 2010 - Coach Mike Schultz announced the signing of three more players for the 2010 season.
Kevin LaPorta (Oakton Community College) will pick up quality innings on the mound this summer. He held the best record (8-3) at OCC as a freshman last spring.
Jeremy Winnan (Judson University) will add depth to the Patriot roster this summer. He was an All Big Northern Conference player as a unior and senior at Marengo High School. He threw a no-hitter as a Judson U. freshman last spring.
Brian Evans (Elmhurst College) is a solid second baseman with an above average glove and the ability to put the ball in play and make things happen at the top of the lineup. He will look to get on base and set the table for the Patriots.

Play Ball USA Patriots Sign Four More for 2010
Kevin Serna (Augustana College) was a two time all-conference player at Rolling Meadows High School. The former two sport standout is currently a sophomore at Augustana and will be looking to start in the outfield for the Vikings this spring.
Jacob Rone (Parkland College) will be an impact player on the mound as a rising-freshman. He has a fastball with run and good secondary pitches.
Ryan Konsler (John Carroll University) is a top level defensive outfielder who was a an all-conference and all-area player while at Lake Forest High School.
Derek Shomon (Judson University) should put up big numbers in the middle of the Patriots order. At 6'3' and 265lbs. he is an intimidating force."
